Roles and requirements
Tell Currity which cards each role must hold, so a card nobody ever collected shows up the same way an expired one does.
Why requirements matter
A spreadsheet can only be wrong about dates it already has. Someone starts on Monday, their fit test is never filed, and nothing turns red because there is no row for it.
Currity works from what each role must hold. When a required card has no record, the board shows Not on file and the person is not cleared, the same as an expired card. With no requirements at all, the board has nothing to check anyone against, and it says so.
Require a card of a role
- On the board, find Require a credential of a role.
- Type the role, as in Welder.
- Choose the credential. For one that is not listed, choose Other: add your own…, name it, and set Renews every so many months, or tick Does not expire.
- Press Require. Every person with that role is now checked for it.
The list What each role must hold shows every requirement. To drop one, press Remove beside it, then Stop requiring it. Cards already on file stay on file.
Start from a state guide
Some states and cities set their own training rules. Read the public guides first: Nevada, New York City, or every state and city guide.
- Open State rules in the menu.
- Under Where do you work?, tick your states and cities and press Save and show guides.
- Read each rule, with its source. Open Add to roles… and tick the roles that need each card, or type other roles, separated by commas.
- Press Preview what will be added. The preview lists each role and the card it must hold, and any credential type it will add to your list.
- Press the add button to confirm. It counts the requirements, as in Add 3 requirements.
If you signed up from a state page, the guide opens on that state with the role picker already open. Nothing is added until you confirm.
A guide for one project
For a job in a state or city your company does not otherwise work in, apply the guide to that project only.
- Open the project from Projects.
- Under The GC's rules for this project, open Apply a state guide to this project.
- Choose the Guide, press Choose roles, and tick the roles.
- Press Preview what will be added, then the add button to confirm.
Project rules are added to the company's, never instead of them. Someone can be cleared on the board and not cleared for one job, but never the other way round. See Projects, the GC link and the prequal packet.
Good to know
- The state guide is a starting point, not legal advice. Laws change, and a GC can ask for more than the law does. Read the linked source before you rely on it.
- Applying a guide never changes or removes anything already on your board. Applying it twice adds nothing the second time.
- If you already have a credential type with the same name, the guide uses yours as it is. Where yours lasts a different time from the law, the preview says so. Enter the expiry the law gives when you record the card.
- Foremen cannot add requirements or apply a guide.
